Shearwater Gallery is stoked to represent Seward emerging artist Marissa Fuchser!
Marissa’s work is largely inspired by the unique and beautiful forms and colors found in nature. This has translated to her most recent work in painting birds and other wildlife found in Alaska. She practiced wood sculpture and painting in art school and now works primarily in acrylic or gouache. She enjoys working with a variety of materials and testing the limits of each one.
As a resident of Seward, she enjoys living and working in Alaska’s stunning and unique landscape. She likes to take in the small moments and things people often miss and appreciate the little details that make up our surroundings. The shape of a bird’s wings, the way it moves in flight, or the colors that cause it to stand apart or blend in are things that can be hard to notice if you’re not looking for it.
Come see Marissa’s delicate, moody seabird portraits in acrylic and gouache at Shearwater Gallery today!
Shearwater is thrilled to represent Anchorage photographer Amy Bragg. Amy is a kindergarten teacher in Anchorage who loves to take photos of family, wildlife, and Alaskan scenery. Amy never leaves her home without her camera because, “You never know what you are going to see living in the beautiful 49th state.”
Amy’s photos are bright and beautiful and showcase Alaska at its best. Shearwater gallery is happy to stock a range of Amy’s images as matted prints and on metal.
Get ready! Spring is on the way, and with that comes a return to First Friday goodness! The Gallery is thrilled that our very first First Friday show will feature Annie Ciszak Pazar, the amazing artist behind the Annie’s Arts and Follies jewelry line. Come on out Friday April 7 from 4-7pm to meet Annie and take a look at some gorgeous jewelry that she’ll be bringing us just for this show!
Annie will also be teaching two earring-making classes on Saturday, both of which have already filled up! Seward really showed up for the chance to learn to make your very own bling! After a long winter, things are finally heating up around here and I am here for it! I hope you are, too! See ya on the 7th!

Shearwater gallery has a lovely selection of authentic Alaska Native-made jewelry. Here are a few of my favorites:
Always insist on seeing the authenticity tags when purchasing Authentic Alaska Native-made products so you know that the ivory, baleen and other animal products were legally harvested by Alaska Native people. It is illegal to label any item Native-made or Indian-made if it is not made by a recognized tribe member.
